Most of us have decently powerful computers with nice graphics card. So wouldn’t it be great if web browser use some of the graphics prowess to load media little quicker? Amazing! And that’s what guys at Mozilla are working on. Reportedly, future release of Firefox will be getting a new feature called Direct2D hardware acceleration.
So what would it exactly do?
This would enable Firefox to utilize the graphics card to render some of the content that should translate in a snappier experience for the users.
But sad thing is you wouldn’t be seeing this feature in any near-future update. The Direct2D support is only slated for an alpha build, which means that it probably won’t make it into the current release schedule of Gecko 1.9.3.
