intel_logo.bmpHere's another post to the growing list articles on inside-info on Intel's processors. We've already seen many upcoming dual core / quad core notebook processors, but its been quite some time since we last heard on the desktop front. Reportedly Intel will start selling quad core Yorkfield chips from 12 November. The first model to come out will be QX9650 with 3.0Ghz clock speed, 12MB cache, and a very high TDP rating of 130W. Looks too powerful but don't even think your Christmas bonus will buy you this as its priced at $999. The chip giant will also launch Q9550 ($530), Q9450 ($316) and Q9300 ($266) around first half of January 2008. The first is clocked at 2.83Ghz, while the latter are clocked at 2.66Ghz and 2.50Ghz respectively. All of them provides a more manageable TDP rating of 95W. Also the 2.83- and 2.66Ghz processor features 12MB cache and the 2.50Ghz chip reduces the cache to 6MB.

The Wolfdale line up includes three dual core processors with 1333 MHz FSB, 6MB cache, and 65W TDP rating. The 3.16Ghz E8500 is priced at $266 while the 3.0Ghz E8400 will set you for $183. No word on pricing of 2.66Ghz E8200. By the way firm is also planning to announce a 65nm 2.4Ghz dual core E4600 Conroe processor on 21 October.
