Intel unveils new dual core, quad core processors

Today Intel announced new processors targeted towards gaming enthusiasts. The 2.6GHz Core 2 Extreme X7800 ($851) mobile dual-core processor is the "world's highest-performing mobile processor." It features 800MHz front side bus, and 4MB of L2 cache. According to the firm it offers up to 28 percent more performance than their previous-generation mobile processor. Intel has also unveiled five new desktop chips -- 3.0GHz Core 2 Extreme QX6850, 2.66GHz Core 2 Quad Q6700, 3.0GHz Core 2 Duo E6850, 2.66GHz Core 2 Duo E6750, and 2.33GHz Core 2 Duo E6550.

The QX6850 ($999) comes with 1333 MHz front side bus, and 8MB L2 cache while the Q6700 ($530) features 1066 MHz bus and same cache. The Core 2 Duo E6850 ($266), Core 2 Duo E6750 ($183), and Core 2 Duo E6550 ($163) comes with 1333 MHz front bus, and 4MB cache. The desktop processors will be available within the next two weeks.
