Intel Itanium “Tukwila” processor coming in Q1

Eighty percent of the Global 100 companies already use Itanium-based servers. To further push its market share and to keep existing customers happy the chip giant is all set to introduce a new Itanium processor. The Intel Itanium Tukwila processor is reportedly twice as fast as its predecessor and doubles the performance.
It also adds a range of new scalability, reliability, and virtualization features.
Intel reports that the new Itanium chip would be out in Q1.
The launch of this Itanium mission-critical processor is part of a major push Intel is making into the server processor arena, with several announcements slated for the first half of the year.
