Intel Huron River notebook platform coming in first quarter of 2011

Reportedly Intel is planning to unveil a new notebook platform in the first quarter of 2011. Codenamed “Huron River”, it features a 6-series chipset (Cougar Point), Sandy Bridge processor, and wireless modules codenamed Rainbow Peak and Taylor Peak.
Developed using 32nm fabrication process, the Sandy Bridge processors will come in both dual-core and quad-core variants.
What’s more, it’ll even integrate a GPU codenamed Ironlake which supports DirectX 10.1.
On the other hand Cougar Point chipsets will feature SATA 6Gbps, but will not support USB 3.0 natively.
If this report is to be believed then the Huron River platform would be truly very powerful.
