Intel Core i7-980 Extreme Edition six-core processor listed for $1,480

Though Intel is yet to release its first six-core processor dubbed as the Core i7-980, an online retailer is currently offering it in Europe. Priced at $1,480, the chip is based on Intel’s Gulftown architecture and is its first six-core processor.
Designed for desktop computers, the Core i7-980 Extreme Edition processor is equipped with 12MB L3 cache, supports turbo boost up to 3.6GHz and has a free multiplier.
It also features integrated triple-channel memory controller supporting DDR3 modules up to 1066 MHz.
