Intel Core 2 Solo Processors
Intel has announced their plan for the ultra low voltage processors that are more energy efficient compared to our regular processors and have longer battery life. The company is going to launch Core 2 Solo single core processors in the Q3 2007 which are targeted for laptops segment. The two new chips, U2200 (1.2 GHz/1MB L2/533MHz) and U2100 (1.06 GHz/1MB L2/533MHz) have a low power consumption of only 5W. The Core 2 Solo chips would be released in Socket M interface instead of Socket P because of it's low power consumption. Intel also clarified that Celeron M is a single core processor, ending the rumor that it is a dual core chip.
