Intel Bearlake chipsets for desktops
Intel has launched a new chipset "Bearlake" which supports company's next generation 45nm-processors. Designed for desktop computers, it supports DDR3 memory, and front side bus speeds up to 1333MHz. The P35 is claimed to be the main chipset that will ultimately succeed Intel's current 965 Express series.
Motherboards based on the P35 will be able to support FSB speeds up to 1333MHz (up from the 1066MHz of the 965) which will be required for several of the CPUs Intel is planning to launch in the second half of the year. P35-based motherboards are expected to be available in April or May.
