amd_logo2.jpg Now this is a news. If reports are to be believed then AMD is all set to woo consumers with its six-core processor. Yes, you read it correct. A six-core AMD processor for consumer desktops! The chip would be branded as Phenom II X6, and will probably come much after Intel unveils its own six-core Gulftown processor.

The Thuban is built upon 45nm fabrication process, and will be backwards compatible with existing AM3 and AM2+ motherboards.

The chip is expected to feature an integrated DDR3 controller, massive 904 million transistors, 3MB of L2 and 6MB of L3 cache.

AMD has confirmed the news regarding six-core Thuban.
