Finally AMD has gone official with its second generation A-Series “Trinity” APUs. Newly launched APUs for notebooks are — the A10-4600M (quad-core), A8-4500M (quad-core), and A6-4400M (dual-core). On the other hand the quad-core A10-4655M and dual-core A6-4455M are designed for ultrabooks. Interestingly, these APUs boast of up to 29% increase in performance and feature the next-generation AMD “Piledriver” CPU core with 3rd generation AMD Turbo Core technology, where power is dynamically shifted between the CPU and GPU depending on application needs, effectively providing a more responsive experience that can boost CPU frequencies to up to 3.2 GHz.

ARM today launched a new microprocessor which is touted as the world’s most energy-efficient processor. The ARM Cortex-M0+ processor has been optimized to deliver ultra low-power, low-cost MCUs for intelligent sensors and smart control systems in a broad range of applications including home appliances, white goods, medical monitoring, metering, lighting and power and motor control devices. The 32-bit Cortex-M0+ processor consumes just 9µA/MHz on a low-cost 90 nm LP process, around one third of the energy of any 8- or 16-bit processor available today, while delivering significantly higher performance.
