Remote Data Backup

remote-data-backup.gif A remote data backup is a service that provides users with an online system for backing up and storing digital data. Online backup systems are typically built around a client software program that runs on a schedule and collects, compresses, encrypts, and transfers data stored on hard drive to the remote backup service provider's servers.

The main advantage of remote data back up is that you need not do anything. Once the client software is installed on your computer, it'll do all that is needed in order to secure your important data. The software will run silently on your system and will back-up data every day, sometimes even on hourly basis.

Here's some of major advantages of using a remote backup service:

  • No need of any CDs, DVDs, Tapes
  • No user intervention. Data will be automatically stored on service provider's servers
  • Data is safely secured off-site without having to manually move it elsewhere
  • You can even backup data on multiple locations
  • Once you backup everything, the system will only backup incremental changes. Thus saving backup time
  • Encryption available
