Microsoft LaserTouch can magically transform your regular monitor into a touchscreen display

microsoft_lasertouch.jpg Microsoft recently displayed a cool new technology that can magically transform any standard display into a touch-panel so that users can use their hand to control their beloved PC. The LaserTouch is a prototype device which uses a low-cost infrared camera and lasers to track "how the user touches the screen in order to prompt a response from the software."

The LaserTouch is an inexpensive system, but will not see the light of day for couple of more years as certain problems still need to be fixed. For example, it doesn't support multiple users that well. If two people were attempting to manipulate the display, for example, one person's hands might block the laser from "seeing" the other person's hands.
