• Google to unveil internet usage gauge

Google is in a process of launching a new online tool that will measure online usage of internet surfers. The new service which is aimed at “helping advertisers pinpoint where to place their ads online” will be unveiled in the next week. Of course, Google is not the first company to measure online usage. Two traditional players — comScore and Nielsen — are doing it since years, but the major difference between their and Google’s service is that unlike comScore and Nielsen which measure web audiences through surveys or panels, Google’s new service will be based mostly on web server data. What’s more, Google doesn’t plan to charge a penny for their service, providing an awesome opportunity to advertisers to understand their consumer’s mind.
