Sony and NEC's AD-7191A, 7173S, 7960A DVD burners and BD-5500A, 5710S, 5600S, 5500S Blu-ray

Optiarc, a joint venture between Sony and NEC has launched a range of DVD burners and Blu-ray players. The firm displayed seven optical media players at CeBIT in Germany. The AD-7191A is a 20x DVD burner with DVD-RAM at 12X, DVD±R DL/+RW at 8X and DVD-RW at 6X. Coming in three colors - beige, black and white, it includes 2MB of buffer. The AD-7960A is a SATA version designed for notebooks and features 8x DVD writing speed. Optiarc also displayed the AD-7173S DVD burner. The most interesting products were the Blu-ray players which drew much attention. The company announced four new Blu-ray player, the BD-5710S, the BD-5600S, the BD-5500S, and the BD-5500A. The BD-5500A (pictured above) writes BD-R single-, dual-layer at 2x, BD-RE DL at 2x, DVD-R DL at 4x and reads BD at 2x. All the next-gen DVD players will be available in July.
