Panasonic has announced that the firm will launch 4x recordable Blu-ray discs this summer. The discs will be available in 25GB, and 50GB capacity and transfers data at 144MB/sec. It's capable of coping a 1GB folder in just one minute. The company was able to achieve high speed due to a new phase-change recording layer.

This launch will coincide with firm's 4x Blu-ray player.
