The strange looking handheld is the "most powerful and full-featured rugged handheld computer available." The rugged computer's vertical design makes it more comfortable compared to other UMPCs. The video game player lookalike gizmo comes with 806MHz Marvell PXA320 XScale processor, 128 MB RAM, 1GB flash storage, 802.11g wireless, GPS, laser bar code scanner, camera, high-resolution sunlight-visible VGA display, and Windows Mobile 6. The firm claims it's Lithium Ion battery can work all day without a recharge.

As for ruggedness, the Nomad meets the high standard for drops, vibration, humidity, altitude and extreme temperatures. It's completely sealed against dust, and it can survive immersion in up to a meter of water for 30 minutes. Weighing just 595 grams, it's available in four models - 800B, 800L, 800LC, and 800LE. The first two are now available (starting price $1,699), while the latter two will come in August.
