Toshiba Portege R400

Toshiba Portege R400 is a product of joint collaboration between Microsoft and Toshiba that caters the need of mobile computing users. Its the world’s first notebook computer with “the ability to automatically synchronize e-mail and calendar events through the integration of Microsoft’s Active Notifications.” It includes Toshiba exclusive ‘ConfigFree’ that detects the strongest network available and gets connected to it. The laptop provides Toshiba Edge Display which allows the user to easily monitor his/her inbox and calendar activity. It is world’s first wirelessly dockable notebook computer. The model in question features a 12.1-inch diagonal widescreen LED backlit high-brightness display with wide viewing angle (1280 x 800 resolution), and a biometric fingerprint reader for advanced security. On the specs sheet it has a Intel Core Duo processor, up to 4GB RAM, 80GB HDD, DVD SuperMulti drive, Integrated EV-DO, 802.11a/b/g Wireless, Ethernet, and Bluetooth. The notebook runs on Windows Vista, and has a price tag of $2,599 for a base configuration. It will be available from 30 January.
