And here comes a machine which is targeted towards the very same segment that MacBook Air caters. The Sony VAIO X is an 11.1" system boasting "world's lightest" profile. According to Sony, its VAIO X Series redefines the notebook category with its lightweight carbon-fiber chassis, 1.6pounds weight, and a half-inch thin profile.

Flagship features include 11.1" scratch-resistant LED-backlit LCD display, up to 14 hours for the super-extended capacity battery, wireless WAN, and a multi-touch trackpad.

Specification include Intel Atom Z550 (2GHz) processor, Intel GMA 500 graphics, 2GB RAM, 128GB SSD, 802.11b/g/n wireless, Bluetooth, 2x usb 2.0 ports, and Windows 7.

The only thing that VAIO X lacks is an integrated DVD burner.

The VAIO X Series notebook comes in two colors, black and gold, and is now available starting at $1,300.
