Panasonic’s Toughbook family is really tough. It features many portable notebooks and tablets with rugged chassis. But the latest machine to join the Toughbook family is bit different — its a small, handheld machine with a 5.6″ display. Interesting thing about the Toughbook U1 Ultra is that it provides powerful features in a small, rugged chassis. Also, the Toughbook U1 Ultra goes beyond the MIL-STD-810G certification with the ability to withstand a six-foot drop.
The Toughbook U1 Ultra combines the portability of a handheld computer and the benefits of a full Windows OS. It also features an Intel Atom Z530 Processor (1.6Ghz) and a TransflectivePlus display for up to 6000 nit viewability in direct sunlight.
Specification include 2GB RAM, 64GB SSD, 5.6” WSVGA sunlight-viewable touchscreen display with LED backlighting, up to 9 hour battery life, and Windows 7.
Other features include 802.11a/b/gn WiFi, Bluetooth, WWAN / Gobi2000 mobile broadband (EV-DO and HSPA), GPS, barcode reader, Fingerprint reader, 2.0MP webcam, and numeric keypad.
The Toughbook U1 Ultra is available in the United States starting at $2,799.
