nec_lavie-light-netbook.jpg Already tired of netbooks? Bear with me for one more article. By now almost all major computer manufacturer is in the netbook game. Though initially very few like ASUS and MSI were hopeful regarding netbooks' future, after sometime the biggest name in the computer world -- HP and Dell -- also came out with their very own netbook computers. The latest, or the late-est to join netbook bandwagon is none other than Japanese giant NEC. The firm today released the LaVie Light mini laptop targeting the netBook market for users needing a PC to easily access Internet and e-mail applications. The LaVie Light is powered by Intel's Atom N270 processor and boast a 160GB HDD. It also features “Power Off USB recharging function” that allows users to recharge digital music players and other devices through a USB connector, even when the PC’s power is off.

Another stand out feature of this netbook is the “NX Pad” - a sliding pad positioned in front of the keyboard with a “gesture function” that enables intuitive operations without using a mouse. This dramatically improves ease of operation; for example, an Internet browser or other screen can be magnified or reduced by simultaneously moving two fingers apart or together over the NX Pad, or the mouse pointer can be quickly moved to the edge of the screen by pulling the finger away from the Pad.
