Medison, a Swedish company has announced a marvelous cost effective laptop for the "everyday user" who doesn't demand the highest performance. The 14.1-inch Linux based lappie is best suited for people who performs simple everyday tasks like e-mailing, surfing net, word processing etc. With it's decent specifications it can surely give OLPC a run for it's money. The Celebrity notebook is powered by 1.5GHz Intel Celeron M370 processor and features 1280x768 resolution, 40GB hard drive, 256MB DDR RAM (upgradeable to 1GB), DVD combo, integrated VIA PN800 graphics with up to 64MB memory, 802.11g wireless, and dual speakers. If you aren't comfortable with Linux then you can purchase a license from Microsoft for Windows XP. It'll be available within 4-6 weeks for $150.
