Lenovo IdeaPad U8 MID goes official at Olympic

lenovo_ideapad-u8.jpg As expected, Lenovo timed the IdeaPad U8's release with the on going Olympic games. Lenovo's first mobile internet device (MID) has been around for quite some time, but it's only now that the company officially went official with this baby. The China-only device is powered by Intel's Atom processor, and weights only 10.6-ounce. The most interesting thing about this machine is it's ability to play TV on-the-go. As shown above, the CMMB (China Multimedia Mobile Broadcasting) USB dongle is being used to provide users with free, live coverage of the Olympic games. It can also receive other broadcast signals.

Specification:

  • 800MHz Intel Atom Z500 processor
  • 4.8-inch touchscreen
  • up to 2GB RAM
  • 6GB SSD
  • dual cameras
  • 5-hour battery life
  • support for mobile TV
  • WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G, GPS, and EDGE connectivity

The IdeaPad U8 will be available in near future with a price equivalent to smartphones.
