Is CrunchPad dead?
Well, there is only one person in this world, Michael Arrington, who can answer this question. But if several industry sources are to be believed then the reported CrunchPad is "indefinitely" delayed, if not dead. Wondering what could be the reason? Best guess is, rising cost.
Unlike originally planned, the CrunchPad is looking costlier day-by-day, and that's why it is getting delayed. Otherwise by now you would be playing with this internet-only device.
"When Arrington first mentioned the CrunchPad effort in July, 2008, he was aiming for a $200 price tag. In April, 2009, when he already had some prototypes built, he said "you can sell it for $300 and probably not go out of business." In July, he told the New York Times it would cost "less than $300." That may no longer be possible."
As for my personal opinion, I wish the CrunchPad comes soon and sticks to its original pricing target of around $300. Because if that's going to cost more then it would be difficult selling it.
