HiVision netbook goes for $98

hivision_netbook.jpgHiVision, a Chinese vendor has released a new netbook computer which costs less than the famous Chinese $130 laptop. HiVision's machine is very similar to that Chinese machine with MIPS-based processor running under it's hood. Agreed, with a simple MIPS processor you wouldn't be able to do much computation, but if your sole aim is to surf internet and do some basic computing, and if you don't want to spend something like $400 for an Eee or a Wind PC then you can go for such a machine.

The netbook also offers 128MB RAM, 1GB flash storage, SDHC card reader, built-in Wi-Fi, three USB ports, and Ethernet. As for software, you get Linux operating system with Skype, Firefox, a chat program, AbiWord processor, a media player, voice recorder and image editing applications.

HiVision's machine will be available from October for $98. The pink model (shown) is now available for $120.
