Gigabyte to launch low-cost laptop in June
The latest addition to the growing list companies hoping for a repeat of ASUS Eee PC's success is Gigabyte. Reportedly the firm is planning to launch a low cost notebook, based on Intel platform, with a screen size of 7- to 9-inch. Digitimes reports that Gigabyte will design and manufacture the low-cost PC itself and Arima Computer will be the OEM for UMPC production and Compal Electronics and Quanta Computer will remain as notebook OEMs.
In the month of April Gigabyte is planning to unveil Intel Menlow-based mobile Internet device (MID) and ultra-mobile PC (UMPC).
