Fujitsu notebook security solution can delete data even while the PC is turned off
Being a mobile professional and computing on road is quite risky. You can never be sure that it will be with you only when you come back home. To boost notebook's security, Fujitsu along with Willcom, today announced a new security solution for corporate customers that enables the data on a notebook PC's hard drive to be remotely deleted using Willcom's PHS network. This provides protection against information leaks in the event that a notebook PC is lost or stolen.
The module once embedded on your notebook will quietly monitor your laptop. In case your lappie gets stolen then all you have to do is issue a command and all stored data on your machine gets deleted. What's more, if the target PC is located within the PHS communications coverage area, the command to delete data can be issued and executed even while the PC is turned off!
Fujitsu plans to begin offering this solution as well as notebook PCs equipped with the custom communications module in Japan in Q3 of this year.
