Dell Latitude Z 16″ laptop with wireless charging goes official
We knew it was coming. And guess what? Today Dell went official with the world’s first laptop that gets charged wirelessly. The Latitude Z is a stylish, less than an inch thick notebook targeted towards office crowd who’re looking for a nicely design laptop and some innovative features. First in the list of unique features is most certainly its wireless charging capability. Wondering how can a laptop get charged wirelessly? Well, its all due to wireless docking and “inductive charging.” Dell said that the machine can be recharged without a power cord just by placing it in a special docking station, in the same way many electric toothbrushes charge. The docking station is sold separately.
Another interesting feature of this machine is Latitude ON — Instant, Always ON Connection to Email, Web, Contacts and Calendar.
When you use the Latitude ON feature, laptop makes use of an ARM chip and Linux operating system to boot instantly so that you can access web, email, etc. instantly.
Specification include a high-definition (1600×900) WLED display, 2.0MP camera, multi-touch touchpad, silky-touch backlit keyboard, fingerprint reader, Dell FaceAware Lock-Out that automatically locks out other users when a user steps away from the laptop, WLAN, Bluetooth and optional 3G WWAN mobile broadband.
Technical features include an Intel Core 2 Duo SU9600 (1.6GHz) / SU9400 (1.4GHz) processor, 4GB DDR3 memory, max 512GB SSD, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD, external optical drive, and Windows 7.
