Compal demonstrates UMPC running on Windows CE
Compal has showcased their new portable computer dubbed as UMD (Ultra Mobile Device) that runs on Windows CE (to save battery and to keep price down). The 4.3-inch PC comes with 532MHz Freescale i.MX31 processor, 800 x 480 resolution, 256MB DDR RAM, 512MB of Nand flash memory, 802.11b/g wireless, Bluetooth, HSDPA, 1.3 megapixel camera, built-in speakers, microphone, miniSD card slot, and QWERTY keyboard. No word on availability but it’s expected to cost less that $400.
