We knew Amazon was going to launch couple of new tablets under its Kindle family and guess what the shopping giant indeed updated its Kindle family with three new devices — the Kindle Fire HD 8.9″, Kindle Fire HD 7″ and Kindle Fire 2. Talking about Amazon’s flagship product, the Kindle Fire HD 8.9″, it is a direct competitor to iPad and features an 8.9-inch full HD display with 1200 x 1920 resolution, a dual-core 1.5GHz processor, and 16/32/64 GB internal storage.
On the other hand the 7″ Kindle Fire HD features a 800 x 1280 resolution display, a dual-core 1.2GHz processor and 16/32 GB internal storage.
Common features include Dolby audio, dual stereo speakers, dual antennae WiFi (up to 40% faster), HDMI and a custom version of Android.
Finally, the Kindle Fire 2 is a second generation Kindle Fire tablet with a 7-inch 600 x 1024 display1GB RAM, 8GB storage and a 1.2GHz processor.
The Kindle Fire HD 8.9″ is priced at $299 (16GB), $369 (32GB), $499 (32GB + 4G), and $599 (64GB + 4G). The Kindle Fire HD 7″ is priced at $199 (16GB) and $249 (32GB). The Kindle Fire 2 is the cheapest of the lot at $159 (8GB).
