Acer to launch low-cost small notebook

acer_logo.gif The earlier news were right on mark as Acer today officially announced its entry into low-cost ultra portable notebook segment. According to Acer Chairman J.T. Wang, the firm is planning to launch a 7-9 inches wide laptop, costing around $470. No word on specification, but you can expect something similar to ASUS Eee PC.

The price-point at which Acer plans to sell its "low-cost" notebook is much more than Linux based Eee PC. So Acer gotta offer much better specs (for example better storage) in order to make it hit among today's prosumers.

Expect the un-named PC to hit stores in the second or third quarter of this year.
