Lenovo monitors gets EPEAT Gold rating, intros L174 and L197 LCDs
Lenovo is one of the firms whos aggressively following environment protection policy. Just recently Lenovo had introduced couple of energy efficient desktops, and now the firm is back with their “green” monitors that passed EPEAT Gold test. The new Lenovo monitors designated EPEAT Gold qualified are: ThinkVision L151, L171, L171P, L194 Wide, L190X, L220X Wide, L174 and L197 Wide. So, what does this rating mean? EPEAT, or “Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool,” is one of the most highly sought environmental designations in the tech industry. EPEAT’s “Gold” designation means that the manufacturer has risen to the organization’s highest plateau of environmentally responsible efforts.
“Lenovo is leading the way in the current wave of environmental display improvements with the introduction of a full lineup of EPEAT Gold monitors, as well as more energy efficient 17 and 19 inch mainstream displays,” said Tom Shell, vice president, global visuals business unit.
Additionally, the ThinkVision L174 and L197 Wide introduced new technology to reduce power consumption. Lenovo engineers were able to accomplish this by reducing the number of bulbs used in the system from four to two, while adding new brightness enhancement films to ensure greater operating performance. TUV Rheinland of Germany, one of the largest product testing and certification companies in the world, has verified the ThinkVision L174 and L197 Wide consume between 25 and 35 percent less electricity than any prior generation ThinkVision monitors.
The L174 is priced at $240 while the L197 Wide costs $260. The new monitors will be available starting from 18 April.
