The Taiwanese LCD panel maker, AU Optronics Corp, today announced the world’s first 16:9 Full HD TFT-LCD with 1920 x 1080 resolution for desktop monitor. As compared to regular display panels, AU Optronics' new panel sports a true 16:9 wide format, providing astonishing HD experience. It combines the stylish thin and eco-friendly designs to introduce AUO’s product lines for MoniTV application.

Another good thing about this panel is that it saves up to 50% in power consumption, meaning your overall power usage will decrease significantly as monitors are traditionally known for their high power consumption. AUO also developed ultra thin and slim bezel technology for this 24" 16:9 desktop LCD panel (left), with 50% reduction of module thickness comparing to the conventional one (right).

The panel provides 1,920 x 1,200 resolution, 300 nits brightness and 1000:1 contrast ratio. Its expected to ship in 2Q of this year.
