  • monitor_panel.JPGChunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT), a Taiwanese company, is planning to mass produce 18.4-inch widescreen LCD monitor panels from the end of the second quarter of 2008. The 18.4-inch panels will be used in both desktops monitors and laptop, and will directly compete against 19-inch widescreen monitors and 17-inch monitors. The 16:9 panel features a resolution of 1,366×768, a brightness of 300 nits, contrast ratio of 1,000:1, and a response time of 5ms.

It’s reported that the new high-end product from Acer will be priced at $2,000 and will feature Intel’s next generation Montevina notebook platform.
