Intel gains SSD orders from Google

google_logo3.jpg Though Intel is yet to offer SSDs to normal consumers, the chip giant was recently awarded SSD orders from Google for use in its data centers across its North America headquarters. The benefits offered by solid state disks far exceeds pricing constrains, so slowly most of the data centers will move away from traditional hard drives. One of the main reason why Google is going for SSDs is to lower its power consumption. Reportedly, Intel will supply flash chips and Marvell the corresponding controller ICs, with shipments slated for late second quarter.
