    Want to share data with your Wi-Fi equipped laptop but have no Wireless connection to share data? Well worry not as come 2010 and you’ll be able to transfer data directly from one Wi-Fi equipped PC to another PC, all without involving a Wi-Fi network.


    In a way the new technology would be pretty much similar to Bluetooth technology, but of course the Wi-Fi Direct Technology will provide faster data transfer rate and will cover large area.
    Thanks to this new upcoming you’ll be able to transfer high bandwidth files such as videos pretty easily, and quickly.
    And yes all kind of consumer electronic gizmos such as laptops, desktops, cameras, music players, etc. will feature new Wi-Fi Direct chips.
    Another interesting thing about this technology is that only one of the gadgets need have the new Wi-Fi Direct technology to make a two-way connection work.
    Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Wi-Fi Direct devices will support typical Wi-Fi ranges and the same data rates as can be achieved with an infrastructure connection, so devices can connect from across a home or office and conduct bandwidth-hungry tasks with ease.
    The Wi-Fi Alliance expects to begin certification for this new specification in mid-2010, and products which achieve the certification will be designated Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Wi-Fi Direct.
