Here's a new Toshiba hard disk drive with nice 320GB storage capacity and a form factor of only 1.8-inch. The newest Toshiba drive is the industry's first drive to feature 320gigs storage capacity in 1.8" form factor. Thanks to its smaller footprint and high capacity, the drive would easily find its place in small, consumer electronic gadgets such as music players, UMPCs, MIDs, etc.

The dual platter MKxx33GSG series boast of areal density of 801Mbit/mm2 (516Gbpsi), the industry's highest for 1.8-inch HDDs, 5,400RPM rotational speed, 16MB data cache, and 830MB/s transfer rate.

The new drive, built using 160GB per-platter technology, is an energy efficient drive providing high durability and quiet seek operation.

The new Toshiba series HDD comes in 160GB, 250GB and 320GB capacities, and will be mass produced from this December.

On the other hand the firm also announced a 120GB HDD based on same form factor but with a reduced rotational speed on 4200RPM.
