TDK has announced an industrial grade solid state disk with 16GB storage capacity. The GBDisk RS1 series of Serial ATA (SATA)-compatible industrial silicon disks features single level cell (SLC) NAND Flash memory, and the GBDriver RS1 SATA controller for use in NAND Flash memory controller ICs. The device also boasts high reliability due to complete power interruption tolerance, error correction, distributed data writing, and bad block management. TDK will start production of the GBDisk RS1 series from June 2008.
