In addition to the
Cruzer Titanium Plus usb drive, SanDisk has couple of more products to offer this CES. The flash storage giant has unveiled a new version of it's SATA solid state drive with 72GB storage capacity. The new disk is a slimmed-down 1.8-inch Serial ATA (SATA II) model that is aimed at a new generation of ultralight notebooks. Designed to be a drop-in replacement for hard disk drives, the new SATA drive is just 5mm thick and weighs 40 grams β about 30 percent less than a same-size hard disk drive. It uses a SATA II interface, and consumes only .85 watts in read/write mode and .2W when idle. The SanDisk SSD SATA 1.8β 5000 offers a sustained read rate of 66 MB/sec, a random read rate of over 7000 inputs/outputs per second (IOPS) for a 512-byte transfer2 β more than 100 times faster than any hard disk drive, and an average file access rate of 0.1 milliseconds.
The SanDisk Cruzer Crossfire USB flash drive is your usual pen drive that lets you store PC game data, download portable casual games and demonstrations, and save your their replays. The new 8GB model, with its black body and green trim on the cap, is expected to ship to retailers worldwide this quarter, at a suggested retail price of $129.99.
As for solid state drive, it is expected to hit store in the second quarter of 2008 for an undisclosed price.
