Philips has announced the availability of a new external hard drive that offers a massive 1TB storage capacity. It's a single-disk unit and sports an ultra-fast eSATA interface that is six times quicker than USB 2.0. The drive includes a thick aluminium outer shell that ensures quite operation, 32MB buffer, backup functionality, a heat control system, and a suspension system that protects from shocks.

It's now available for $499.
