Intel to bundle SSDs as part of Centrino 2 platform

intel_logo2.jpg Intel is planning to use its monopoly muscles to push solid state disks into your notebook. The firm recently announced that Intel branded SSDs, which are going to be released from 3Q 2008, will be bundled as part of the upcoming Centrino 2 (Montevina) platform. The SSD line up is targeted towards high-end notebook segment.

Initially, the SSD will come in two versions - Client X25-M (2.5") and Client X18-M (1.8"). Both of them will feature 80GB capacity and SATA interface. What's more, the company is planning to increase storage capacities to 160GB by the end of the fourth quarter, and to 250GB and above in 2009.
