Hitachi announces new 320GB 2.5" Travelstar Hard Drive

hitachi_travelstar.jpg Soon after Fujitsu released world's most energy efficient 500GB hard drive Hitachi updated its very own Travelstar series with a 2.5-inch 320GB drive. The new 5K320 5,400 RPM notebook hard drive feature optional Bulk Data Encryption (BDE) for users requiring increased data security and enhanced availability models designed for use in 24x7 environments. Wondering what is BDE? Well, the company said "hard-drive-level encryption provides improved performance and a higher level of security than any of the previously available options."

The Travelstar also offers 400Gs of operating shock protection, 12 ms seek time, fourth generation perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) head technology and a power rating of 1.8W.
