Western Digital intros new My Passport Elite, My Book Elite, My Book Studio external hard drives

Western Digital today announced three new series of external hard drives: the My Passport Elite, My Book Elite, and My Book Studio. All three are designed for people who cannot get enough of internal storage and need to save their multimedia junk on external hard drive so that it becomes easy to move data from one computer to another. The My Book Elite desktop external drives features a customizable e-label that’s always visible, even when the drive is unplugged, making it easy to know what’s on the drive and how much space is left. It comes in 1TB, 1.5TB and 2TB storage capacities. The WD My Book Studio is a similar drive but is designed for Mac users. It is equipped with a FireWire 800 interface, and supports Apple TimeMachine backup technology.
The WD My Passport Elite external hard drives features an illuminated capacity gauge and drive lock indicator so users can see at-a glance how much space is left on their drive and whether their data is secure. The convenient grab-and-go USB dock frees up valuable desk space and eliminates the search for USB ports, making it ideal for professionals who take their data back and forth to the office. My Passport Elite drives are available now in 3 appealing metallic colors – Metallic Red, Metallic Blue and Charcoal Metallic – and are offered in capacities of 320GB, 500GB and 640GB.
All of them features automatic and continuous backup with WD SmartWare software and 256-bit hardware-based encryption.
