WD Caviar Black 1TB 7200rpm drive announced
Western Digital recently announced a new version of its Caviar hard drive with 1TB (1,000GB) storage capacity. The Caviar Black is a 3.5-inch SATA hard drive with 7,200rpm rotational speed, and 32MB cache, making data access faster than ever. It is equipped with NoTouch ramp load technology that ensures that the recording head never touches the disk media, reducing damage to the recording head and media. It also features StableTrac, which reduces vibration and stabilize platters for accurate tracking, during read and write operations.
The Caviar Black comes with 750GB or 1TB storage capacity, offering 145 Mbytes/s transfer rate, and SATA 3 Gb/s interface. Both of them will be available from next week for $199 and $249 respectively.
