Toshiba kicks two new hard drives

Toshiba has announced world’s first 2.5-inch hard drive with 320GB storage capacity. The MK3253GSX offers the industries highest areal density per platter, at 200.1 gigabits per square inch. It sports 5400rpm speed, 12ms average seek time, 8MB buffer, 759MB/sec media transfer rate, and 3Gbps SATA interface. The firm also kicked a high-end MK-49GSY series with 200GB capacity, 7200rpm speed and 16MB buffer. Toshiba claims “it increases the maximum transfer rate by approximately 46% and the average random access time by approximately 8%.”
The firm plans to mass produce the drives from November.
