Samsung SpinPoint F1 hard drive with 1TB capacity
Samsung Electronics has kicked a new hard drive ‘SpinPoint F1′ based on perpendicular magnetic technology that provides 1TB storage capacity. The 7200rpm drive uses 3x 334GB platters and comes with SATA 3Gbps interface, 16/32 MB cache, 8.9ms average read seek time and 4.17ms average latency. According to the company, the use of only three platters makes their drives more reliable compared to Hitachi and Seagate’s 1TB drives which uses five and four platters respectively.
The SpinPoint F1 is now available, no word on pricing.
