Samsung N series 1.8-inch hard drive
Samsung Electronics has launched a super slim 1.8-inch hard drive. Available in 20GB / 60GB capacity, the new hard drives are designed for use in ultraportable computers and other consumer electronics products like an iPod. These drives are not going to change the rules of the game, but what makes them interesting is their small size. The 4200 rpm drives offers 7.14-millisecond average seek time and a 2MB data buffer.
Samsung claims that these drives are “among the quietest on the market today” and offer an operating noise that is slightly below the sound level that is detectable by the human ear. The power consumption of the drive is rated at 0.3 watts in low-power idle mode.
Last year Toshiba introduced a 100GB 1.8-inch hard drive.
