Micron Unveils RealSSD Series SSDs
Micron today announced a new solid state disk series, the RealSSD. The series features three models: RealSSD 1.8″ SSD (up to 128GB), RealSSD 2.5″ (up to 256GB), and RealSSD Embedded USB (up to 8GB). The company said, RealSSD family of solid state products target a wide spectrum of needs—from low-density, cost-effective embedded storage, to standard HDD replacement drives that offer lower power, faster boot-up times, increased reliability, improved performance, and reduced noise. The 1.8″ and 2.5″ SSDs offer SATA 3 Gb/s interface, 250MB/s read speed, and 250MB/s write speed. The third one features usb 2.0 interface and supports read/write speeds of 33MB/s and 23MB/s respectively. The realSSD drives will be available to consumers in the fourth quarter of 2008.
