NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580 Leaked. To Counter Radeon HD 6970

We know AMD is quickly advancing its lead over NVIDIA in the ongoing GPU war. And come next week and you’ll see lots more AMD GPUs being unveiled under the Radeon HD 6000 series. The Radeon HD 6970 is expected to be top of the line product. To counter that NVIDIA has “leaked” specification of its GeForce GTX 580 card.
Reportedly, the GeForce GTX 580 is based on the GF110 GPU design. Though it is currently just on paper, specification include 512 CUDA cores, 128 TMUs, 2GB GDDR5 memory, and a 512-bit memory interface, with TDP of close to that of the GeForce GTX 480.
Pretty powerful, I must say. It could easily counter the Radeon HD 6970 which is also expected to be a heavy-duty video card.
But sad truth is whereas AMD will be unveiling the Radeon HD 6970 in next week, NVIDIA is yet to even start developing GeForce GTX 580.
May be by the time NVIDIA is ready with GeForce GTX 580, AMD will be ready with a better version!
