Though nothing is known about AMD’s upcoming Northern Islands graphics processing units, recently the firm gave an indication that the newest generation AMD GPUs based on a new architecture will be out in second half of 2010. During a financial interview AMD CEO said that the firm is also looking to refresh an entire ATI Radeon HD Series.

Most probably the new GPUs would be based on 32nm fabrication process, but a rumor also suggest that AMD might employ 28nm process.
Another interesting thing that emerged from AMD’s revelation is that the firm is pretty confident about maintaining its leadership in high-end graphics segment “for the majority of 2010”.
