AMD ATI FireGL workstation graphics accelerators
Advanced Micro Devices has rolled out new ATI FireGL workstation graphics accelerators based on the “next-generation” ATI GPU. The ATI FireGL V8650, V8600, V7600, V5600, and V3600 graphics boards are designed for CAD, DCC and medical imaging professionals and comes with 320 unified shader processors. The company claims every card delivers acceleration of DirectX 10- and OpenGL 2.1-based professional applications. The new boards are equipped with up to 2GB memory.
The lower end V3600 ($300) comes with 256MB memory, while the mid range V5600 ($600) and V7600 ($1000) are equipped with 512MB memory. The V8600 ($1900) features 1GB memory while the top-of-the class V8650 ($2800) boosts 2GB memory. The new boards will be available from September 2007.
